Claude Monet The Impressionist's first 30 Years
with art historian and former educator at the Metropolitan Museum and the Cloisters Michael Norris
Monet is only an eye, but by God what an eye! -Paul Cézanne
Dr. Norris will focus on the Impressionist's early years when Monet learned to use bright colors in broken brush strokes. His paintings captured everyday life—especially the outdoors with its changing light—and were often influenced by the unusual visual angles of Japanese woodblock prints. The program will include works from the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, the National Gallery of Art in D.C., the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and others.
