Program Description

Event Details

In his poem "The Waste Land" , T.S. Eliot opens with the line:  April is the cruelest month.

I beg to differ! While April is often rainy and sometimes even snowy, April is a month of long awaited transformation and growth in nature. The spring is here with its longer and warmer days, the sounds of birds and frogs, the budding of trees, and the blooming of flowers. Join Jocelyn and Librarian Liam Hegarty on a nature walk at the Larchmont Reservoir with Sheldrake Environmental Center. We'll explore all that's happening in nature right now. We'll spend time together, outdoors, connected to the earth and each other.

LOCATION AND PARKING

Please meet under the pavilion behind the white house at 685 Weaver Street. You may park in the lot adjacent to the white house or in the gravel lot on the other side of the playground and walk across.

FORMAT

This program will be conducted outdoors. Indoor bathrooms are available. Sheldrake's trails are considered an easy hike, but note that they are unpaved, and there are a few modest inclines. The program is intended for adults.

ATTIRE/PREPARATION

Please wear comfortable clothes that are weather-appropriate. Sturdy, closed-toed shoes are essential. Keep in mind the ground often remains muddy and slippery even days after the last precipitation, so boots might be advised. You might also wish to bring a water bottle.

WAIVERS

Upon arrival, participants will be asked to sign a standard waiver.

INCLEMENT WEATHER/CANCELLATIONS

Please be aware that the program embraces the weather and is only canceled in case of unsafe or harsh conditions. In the event we need to cancel, we will notify you via email. Please check your spam folder for any misdirected messages.
