Joyce Raimondo, Education Coordinator, presents a series of workshops. Following each presentation, participants will create their own art on Zoom.

Radiant Art Presentation (Tuesday, April 30th at 2 pm)

Color My World Workshop (Tuesday, May 7th at 2 pm)

Explore the difference between light and pigment color mixing as you learn the "science" of color. Be guided to create a color wheel and explore gradations, tones, values, and complementary colors. This basic knowledge will improve your painting skills and make your artworks come to life. Have paint supplies on hand.

Light and Shadow Workshop (Wednesday, May 15th at 2 pm)

Learn the basics of light and shadow to create the effect of three dimensional volume in your drawing. Participants will begin by drawing a sphere and will then be guided to draw a human face with light and shadow.

Project It! (Tuesday, May 21st at 2 pm)

Explore how projectors can be used as a tool for producing paintings by such artists as Alfonse David Alfaro Siqueiros, Franz Kline, and others. Discover how light projections can be used in innovative ways to create luminous art in works by Yahoo Kusama and others.

Reflections on Art Workshop (Tuesday, May 28th at 2 pm)

A sunset on water, glistening effects of light on glass, a mirror image. Discover how artists capture reflections in painting. Then create your own artwork picturing reflections. Have paint supplies on hand.

Divine Light - Part I (Tuesday, June 4th at 2 pm)

How do modern artists Marc Chagall, Jacob Lawrence and others picture spirituality in narrative painting? Following an art presentation, draw or paint your own story of divinity. Have drawing or paint supplies on hand.

Divine Light - Part 2 (Tuesday, June 11th at 2 pm)

The abstract artist Vassily Kandinsky said “Color is a power which directly influences the soul.” Discover how artists express spirituality in abstract paintings. Then draw or paint your own idea of divinity with color, lines, and shapes. Have drawing or paint supplies on hand.
