Program Description

Event Details

In this workshop, a small group of parents and caregivers meet for 2 hours a week for 12 weeks. The program is experiential, which means you learn by doing - and it’s fun! Through a combination of hands-on activities and guided discussions, you will develop knowledge and skills that support you as a parent and role model.

In a supportive setting, we will work with you to:

  • Uncover your inner strengths and help you achieve your goals.
  • Identify your strengths and increase your resiliency.
  • Learn to tackle everyday stressors and challenging situations.
  • Build community and increase your support network.
  • Become more confident and optimistic about achieving personal goals.
  • Increase your ability to nurture yourself and your children.
  • Build greater trust, empathy, and honesty.
  • Learn about local resources available to you.

This program encourages self-reflection using carefully developed activities and focuses on self-care and nurturing. Parenting Journey groups help caregivers decrease parental stress, develop a more positive outlook on caregiving and become more confident in themselves and their abilities. We believe that caregivers who nurture themselves are more empowered to take care of their families.

The registration link for this program will be provided to the participants before the first meeting.

This workshop is presented by Caroline Hathway. She is a senior at Fordham University studying Social Work. She grew up in Maryland, in the suburbs of Washington, D.C. Her favorite self-care activities are yoga and reading; she also has started to knit again!
