Joyce Raimondo, Education Coordinator, presents a series of 7 workshops that explore creative vision through the eyes of artists. Following each presentation, participants will create their own art on Zoom. The library will not provide any are supplies.
LOOK INTO THE FUTURE: VISION BOARD WORKSHOP (Tuesday, June 27th at 2 pm)
How can you see with clarity your aspirations for the future? We will begin with an inspirational presentation featuring Pollock, Krasner, and other artists who realized their creative dreams. Then discover the power of clear thought as you envision the world you want to create for yourself and others in a collage vision boarding workshop. Supplies: glue, scissors, magazine pictures, surface for your art. Or, draw.
ART OF THE EYE: Drawing Workshop (Tuesday, July 11th at 2 pm)
Learn how to improve your observation skills to draw the human eye more accurately. Draw alongside Joyce Raimondo, as she presents techniques to help you look carefully and draw eyes with enhanced precision. Supplies; mirror, pencil, eraser, sharpener, three sheets of paper.
THROUGH THE EYES OF MODERN ART (Tuesday, July 18th at 2 pm)
Learn how modern artists such as van Gogh, Picasso, Magritte, Pollock, Krasner and others creatively paint the human eye to express emotions, dreams, and unique ways of seeing the world. Then draw or paint eyes to express yourself creatively. Have drawing or paint supplies on hand.
INNER VISIONS (Tuesday, July 25th at 2 pm)
Discover how modern artists paint the world of things unseen such as sound, imagination, emotion, or energy. Then following a creative visualization, draw or paint your vision of the unseen world. Have drawing or paint supplies on hand.
EYE OF THE BEHOLDER: WHAT IS BEAUTY? (Tuesday, August 1st at 2 pm)
A popular celebrity, a splash of paint, an awe inspiring sunset? How do we define beauty? Explore how modern artists such Pollock, Krasner, Warhol, Kahlo and others create and challenge notions of beauty. Then sketch your own idea of what beauty means to you. Have drawing supplies on hand.
DOUBLE TAKE (Tuesday, August 8th at 2 pm)
Look again! Learn how modern artists Dali, Picasso, and others create ambiguous images that play with our perception and can be seen in multiple ways. Then create a Surrealist collage filled with “double images.” Supplies; magazines, scissors, glue, surface for your artwork. Or, draw.
IT’S AN ILLUSION (Tuesday, August 15th at 2 pm)
How do artists create optical illusions in painting? Discover how painters create effects of depth, volume, and three dimensions that “trick” the eye on a two dimensional surface Then inspired by op-art, draw your own optical illusion. Have drawing supplies on hand such as pencil or markers.
