Joyce Raimondo, Education Coordinator, presents a series of workshops that explore creative vision through the eyes of artists. Following each presentation, participants will create their own art on Zoom.

EYE OF THE BEHOLDER: WHAT IS BEAUTY? (Tuesday, August 1st at 2 pm)
A popular celebrity, a splash of paint, an awe inspiring sunset? How do we define beauty? Explore how modern artists such Pollock, Krasner, Warhol, Kahlo and others create and challenge notions of beauty. Then sketch your own idea of what beauty means to you.  Have drawing supplies on hand.

DOUBLE TAKE (Tuesday, August 8th at 2 pm)
Look again! Learn how modern artists Dali, Picasso, and others create ambiguous images that play with our perception and can be seen in multiple ways. Then create a Surrealist collage filled with “double images.” Supplies; magazines, scissors, glue, surface for your artwork. Or, draw.

IT’S AN ILLUSION (Tuesday, August 15th at 2 pm)
How do artists create optical illusions in painting? Discover how painters create effects of depth, volume,  and three dimensions that “trick” the eye on a  two dimensional surface Then inspired by op-art, draw your own optical illusion.  Have drawing supplies on hand such as pencil or markers.

Registration is required.
